Speeding in the village has been a major concern for residents. County highways designers are looking now at reducing speeds on Newcastle & Aydon Roads and throughout the village. I’m championing a 20mph speed limit which I’m hopeful they will implement across the village. Many of our streets are narrow and not suitable for speeding cars.

A few years ago the Parish Council installed 2 more electronic indicator signs so we now have one on each of the major routes into the village – Newcastle Road, Aydon Road and Stagshaw Road.

I met with Northumbria Police’s new Neighbourhood Policing Inspector recently and have asked him if more enforcement action can be taken. I have sent him the speed data from the indicator signs.
